I’ve always had back problems since I was 14. I had surgery for a hernia in 2003, and with pain medication, I managed reasonably well until December 25, 2019. Suddenly, I lost all feeling in my left foot, which was a very strange sensation. The cause was a large hernia, which I had surgery for on February 11, 2020.
\nUnfortunately, the surgery didn’t go well. I went in with foot drop and came out with cauda equina syndrome. In my case, foot drop, loss of strength in both legs, a series of anesthetic pants, bladder and bowel problems, and 24 hours of back pain.
\nTreatment now consists of the pain clinic and a gastrointestinal specialist.<\/p>\n

I quickly discovered and bought the recumbent trike. One for grocery shopping, the other for exploring the woods in Nunspeet and the surrounding area. Both with pedal assistance.
\nI walked with the help of a walker, and that felt really old. The reactions from those around me were mostly pity. Through word of mouth, I came across the Alinker, and I knew right away… I wanted one.<\/p>\n

In early November, the time had come and I connected with Sjoukje. And how surprised she was when I immediately bought the Alinker and took it with me to Nunspeet. It took some getting used to at first, but it’s so nice to be able to shop independently. The feedback from my neighbors has been nothing but positive. And since December 2019, I’ve been able to walk my dog, Mo, again.<\/p>\n
